Sirius Medical, founded in February 2017, is a spin-off of Antonie van Leeuwenhoek Hospital and the University of Twente, with the goal of improving the health of breast cancer patients. It provides unique, affordable solutions that enable accurate and efficient surgical removal of tumors. Sirius Pintuition was developed by and for surgeons who were convinced that current treatment could be better and more convenient.

Sirius Medical has developed a method in which a magnetic marker -a Pintuition “seed” as small as a grain of rice – is placed in the tumor days to weeks prior to surgery. During surgery, the Pintuition Detector provides real-time millimeter-accurate guidance to the Pintuition ‘seed’.
